Now Hiring: Assistant Manager
As Assistant Salon Manager at SALT (reporting to the General Manager), you’ll be the operational engine across our two London sites — Borough and Hackney — keeping both salons running efficiently whilst delivering SALT’s high-end-casual service. You’ll work side-by-side with the General Manager to lead the team, look after our clients, and protect the standards that make SALT what it is.
This is a hands-on, on-the-floor role. You’ll be the person stylists turn to when something needs solving, the calm presence clients feel the moment they walk in, and the steady hand that keeps both sites organised, energised and consistent. You are eager to make an impact, not just on how the salons run, but on how it feels to work at SALT and to be a client of SALT — building one of the most respected independent salon brands in London and playing an integral role in the next chapter of an extremely fast-growing business.
Who you are:
• Proven experience in a senior salon/spa, hospitality or premium retail role, ideally across multi-site operations.
• A natural people-person — warm with clients, calm with staff, and able to read a room and navigate many different personality types.
• Highly organised and detail-driven. You notice the smudge on the mirror, the gap in the appointment schedule, and the team member who’s having an off day, the client who needs attention.
• Confident handling day-to-day issues on the floor — from rota gaps and stock shortages to client concerns — with judgement, discretion and a solutions mindset.
• A genuine motivator. You bring energy to a team and know how to set a tone that’s professional, collaborative and human.
• Comfortable moving between two sites, holding both in your head, and adapting your approach to the rhythm of each.
• Commercially aware, with a strong eye for standards, presentation and client experience.
• A “player-coach” mindset — no task is too big or too small. You’ll greet a client, jump on reception, fix a rota and brief the team, all in the same day.
What you’ll do:
• Support the day-to-day running of both SALT sites, ensuring smooth operations and a consistently high standard across the business.
• Act as the senior point of contact for the team in the General Manager’s absence, resolving issues quickly, fairly and professionally.
• Supervise and motivate the team on the floor, fostering a positive, productive and collaborative working environment.
• Welcome clients into the salon alongside the receptionist, ensuring every guest feels comfortable, valued and looked after from arrival to goodbye.
• Help manage rotas, scheduling and daily floor flow so each site is properly resourced and running on time.
• Uphold salon standards — cleanliness, presentation, product displays, client areas and back-of-house — and quietly fix anything that isn’t right.
• Work closely with the General Manager on team performance, training needs, and the small operational improvements that compound over time.
• Help embed SALT’s culture and service standards as the team grows, so both sites feel unmistakably SALT — wherever a client visits.
• Support the General Manager, CEO and Founder in general day to day operational duties.
Interview Process
